A lot of people in the record collecting community may be familiar with Anthony Pearson. For many years he made collectors weep, auctioning off incredible record collections on ebay for what seemed like weeks on end. His alias, simply anthonypearson, became a legend of sorts, while his presence on online record communities offered a mix of humor and knowledge. It wasn’t until an interview in Wax Poetics that people could finally put a face to the figure and get a glimpse of someone that had remained a mystery for so long.
But beyond the record game, Pearson is an esteemed artist and the latest issue of Dwell highlights he and his wife Ramona Trent’s West Los Angeles home renovation. The couple has an acute artistic sense and a clear affinity for 60′s and 70′s interior design, hiring the architecture firm of Frank Escher and Ravi GuneWardena to make their dream house a reality. Their home is a rare blend of minimalism, style and innovation, and with just a few glimpses of its interior it’s not hard to see how they graced the pages of Dwell. The living room/backyard layout is pretty awe inspiring and yes, there’s an impressive record/tippi room as well. You can see more pictures of their home on Escher and GuneWardena’s website, and if you like this check out my post on Chris Portugal’s similar project.
Additionally, I dug out a mix that Pearson put together back in 2005 called Summer Folk & New Age. It’s a pretty mellow mix, and a nice segue from Summer to Fall. You’ll find the tracklisting and download link below.
