Comprised of DJs Hugo Mendez and Frankie Francis alongside The Mighty Crime Minister and super talented designer Lewis Heriz, Sofrito has become one of the UK’s leading Afro, Caribbean and Latin music party collectives. Rocking warehouse parties in East London to the clubs and bars of Brooklyn, beach parties in Greece to festivals and clubs across Europe, the Sofrito sound has become both exciting for lovers of exotic music as well as an inspiration for artists new and old to preserve the sounds that are often shunned by today’s mainstream.
Tropical Discotheque is their first foray into the world of compilations – an eclectic selection of 15 tracks old and new spanning cumbia, Congolese guitar, calypso and highlife. This companion video is a great look into the collective’s inception, the inspiration behind the stunning artwork, and the sounds that move them and their fans. Highly recommended viewing.
